009 | Beethoven’s Great Expectations – View from Aesthetics and Sociology (2020)
The ninth book of the Sei Unhyeong Cultural Foundation of the Society of Music Aesthetics, the theme of which is Beethoven. While many stylistic studies have been conducted around Beethoven's music works, the Music Aesthetics Research Society approached Beethoven through aesthetic and sociological perspectives in this book.
This book consists of two main parts. In Part I, two academic approaches were made: aesthetics and sociology.
The first aesthetic part contains six thesis books. Within the frame of aesthetics, it sheds light on Beethoven's important musical journey and agony of life from various angles.
The second part contains the literature of four scholars under the theme of looking at Beethoven in sociology. From a sociological perspective that reflects Beethoven's music as well as the surrounding political, cultural, and social environment, it shows that the actual phenomenon is expanded to specific examples of music.
The third part, Beethoven's Close View, contains three articles and an interview. In part 2, he introduced five important books showing recent trends in Beethoven's research and translated one of them.
